The Brief
SaveMoneyCutCarbon was commissioned by a large shopping centre in the north of England that caters for millions of visitors a year in normal times. As part of Phase 1 in a washroom refurbishment programme, it wanted to reduce rising costs in the toilet amenities and the operations manager was impressed by the water-saving potential offered by the award-winning Propelair toilet technology.
The goals of the project were to identify the potential to replace the traditional toilets with the unique flow-flush Propelair toilets, delivering substantial savings through reduced water consumption, while lowering the carbon footprint of the services and reducing maintenance costs.
The Solution
The Propelair toilet is robust, low-maintenance and designed for high-footfall areas. SaveMoneyCutCarbon has a proven track record, with successful installation of hundreds of units in motorway service areas across the UK, as well as academic institutions, the NHS and local government properties.
The SaveMoneyCutCarbon team first carried out a full survey of the washroom facilities in the centre confirming the need to replace the six traditional 9-litre cistern toilets that were in use across a normal 10-hour day – an average of around 480 flushes per day.
The Propelair toilet uses patented displaced air technology to remove all waste with a single flush with minimal water use, reducing consumption by more than 80%. At the same time, it provides exceptional hygiene benefits, reducing airborne germs by 95% and eliminating 99.9% of waterborne contaminants.
The SaveMoneyCutCarbon team swiftly installed the six Propelair units and ensured optimal use by providing easy visual instructions and information for users.
