The Client

The Radisson Red Heathrow is a vibrant hotel and conference centre near to the UK’s largest airport, attracting business and vacation travellers as well as corporate guests taking advantage of excellent meeting facilities.

The Brief

The Radisson Read Heathrow is a long-term client with SaveMoneyCutCarbon and required an EV charging solution that offered guests a convenient place to charge while using the airport or hotel.

The Radisson Hotel Group Think Planet initiative is committed to science-based net zero by 2050, reducing carbon footprint through energy-efficient solutions and renewable energy sources. EV charging solutions are a part of the net zero strategy.

The hotel first discussed the potential of EV charging with Vicky Moors, Head of Client Success & Retention and worked with her on an outline brief and strategy for implementation.
Simon Blaaser. Head of E-Mobility at SaveMoneyCutCarbon then worked the hotel to scope out both the best charger solution and the installation work.

The Solution

The hotel commissioned the project to provide six 22kW Sevadis EV chargers with dynamic load balancing and a contactless payment solution as well as Monta Software and Payter Payment Terminals.

The project was delivered on time and within budget, with minimum disruption to guests and hotel management.
SaveMoneyCutCarbon provided a complete solution, from the charging stations and management software to the payment terminals as well as the bay markings so the facilities are very visible to guests.

Destination charging –

The EV charging facilities are also available to travellers who are not staying at the hotel, providing additional revenues.

The full EV charging solution provides the hotel with easy access to ongoing revenue data while SaveMoneyCutCarbon monitors the system in the background to ensure full service provision.

Challenges

As this was a full turnkey project including electrical, civil and branding work, SaveMoneyCutCarbon had to manage multiple stakeholders and suppliers to ensure the project ran smoothly.

One of our cornerstones is ThinkPlanet and it’s really important for us to reach our net zero goal by 2050. We offset all the carbon emissions on behalf of our guests to ensure that we are moving towards that net zero target.

EV charging is becoming more important for travellers, especially corporate companies who are regularly requesting that hotel companies have EV charging facilities to help them meet their net zero targets. Working with a really professional company like SaveMoneyCutCarbon makes it easy – you have information presented to you so you know exactly what’s going to happen and when. You don’t have to worry about the implementation process. We also plan to move forward with other projects when SaveMoneyCutCarbon makes us aware of what we can invest in for the future.

Ludwig Düweke, General Manager, Radisson Red Heathrow

The destination charging facilities are a great opportunity for the Radisson Red Heathrow to add a revenue stream but it’s also great for people who are looking to book a hotel and need to have EV charging, so it puts the Radisson ahead of other hotels in the area that may not have this facility.

Simon Blaaser, Head of E-Mobility at SaveMoneyCutCarbon
