The Radisson Blu Manchester Airport is a contemporary hotel with great style that travellers and businesspeople use as a prime location for stays and meetings, connected by a covered walkway to the three terminals.
The Brief
The hotel experiences ongoing problems with the 20-year-old uplighters at the front of the hotel.
There were issues over wiring corrosion with the embedded ground uplighters that meant provision of professional-quality lighting was compromised.
There were also associated and mounting maintenance costs.
The Solution
SaveMoneyCutCarbon surveyed the area and worked with the Radisson Blu chief engineer, Ian Mitchell, to provide a long-term solution that not only resolved the maintenance issues but also added a “wow” factor to the hotel entrance.
The Vaya Linear MP RGB linear grazing option was chosen and 20 of these 72w fittings (when on full power) were installed.
The new fittings from Color Kinetics, a Signify brand (formerly Philips) not only provide far superior light quality at the entrance, they also are much more energy efficient.
Style with substance means that the hotel will reduce lighting energy costs for the area by up to 50%, as the 19 old pavement uplighters consumed 150w of power each.
The SaveMoneyCutCarbon team, working with the Radisson technical management, decommissioned the old uplighters and the flagstones were replaced.
The Vaya Linear MP RGB fittings are 1 metre in length and connected In a daisy chain across the total 20-metre length of the impressive hotel entrance.
The adjustable mounting brackets with wide or elliptical beam angles provide a comprehensive toolbox for facade lighting needs.
And the discreet design with integrated power supply and waterproof connectors made wiring simple, fast and reliable.
The powerful exterior line-voltage linear grazing luminaires features dynamic colour-changing lighting effects. The hotel can easily change the light colour through the control box with five pre-settings. This means that the entrance lighting can match that of a company brand for meetings and events.
