Why I love the ecoegg Laundry Egg

Putting a wash on is something I do pretty much every day. It makes sense to find a sustainable solution for something I do regularly – hence why I use, and love, the ecoegg Laundry Egg. This magical little egg-shaped invention has completely changed a boring household chore, for the better.

Here is why I love the ecoegg Laundry egg…

It’s better for the planet

I’ve been on a mission to cut down my plastic use this year, so this is one of the biggest reasons I love the ecoegg Laundry Egg! It can save up to 40 plastic bottles every year and as each egg has a 10-year guarantee, that’s a whopping 400 plastic bottles overall.

The majority of traditional laundry detergents contain microplastics, which is a threat for wildlife and marine life. But the ecoegg Laundry Egg is free from microplastics, protecting the health of both humans and animals.

The magical washing pellets inside of the egg are substitutes for washing detergent and fabric conditioner. They last for around 70 washes, but rather than throwing the Laundry Egg in the bin, you simply need the refill pellets to carry on washing.

It’s vegan and cruelty free

I’m not a strict vegan or vegetarian, but I do try my best to reduce my meat intake, opting for plant-based meals instead. However, choosing household products that are vegan and cruelty free is pretty much non-negotiable in my house. If there are kind, easy-to-use and affordable alternatives out there – it’s a no brainer.

The ecoegg Laundry Egg has not been tested on animals and it’s vegan. And yes, they are two different things.

It’s kind to skin

The ecoegg Laundry Egg was actually originally designed for people with sensitive skin. The pellets are non-toxic and they contain no harsh chemicals, enzymes, parabens, bleaches or phosphates. They are lightly scented but you can choose fragrance-free if you wish. But remember – they don’t have to smell highly fragranced to know that they’re clean, the ecoegg Laundry Egg gets rid of dirt just as well as traditional laundry detergent.

It’s been given the “Allergy Friendly” seal of approval from Allergy UK so you can wash clothes with the certainty that it won’t irritate your skin.

It’s super easy to use

Most of us like routine. Between work, school and a busy social life, household cleaning is something we want to be quick and efficient, so we stick with the same old routine. But what if there’s a better way?

The ecoegg Laundry Egg truly couldn’t be easier to use. All you have to do is put the pellets inside of the egg, and pop the egg in your washing machine. Perhaps the hardest thing is remembering when to refill your egg but don’t worry, we’ve covered that too! With our printable countdown sheet, you can stay on top of it.

I simply pop my egg in the washing machine and use the exact same settings as I would with traditional detergent. But if you usually do a rinse cycle too, there’s no need because an ecoegg Laundry Egg contains no soap agents.

My laundry routine has completely changed for the better, with no hassle whatsoever – only less plastic and no faffing around with liquids.

See, switching to an ecoegg Laundry Egg isn’t as scary as it sounds!

It’s palm oil free

Many people actually advise not to eliminate your palm oil consumption altogether because the industry has the chance to become sustainable. Instead, they advise to reduce your consumption of palm oil.

Along with many benefits, the ecoegg Laundry Egg is palm oil free so it’s an easy way to hugely reduce your consumption and make your home planet-friendly.

It will save you extra pennies

Not only is the ecoegg Laundry Egg good for the planet and your skin, it’s also good for your wallet. It only costs 14p per wash when you buy the egg and 10p per wash when you buy the refills.

At the end of the month, I’ve noticed those few extra pennies adding up. My partner and I have decided to save them up in a “fun fund” – so I just keep on reaping the benefits.

So, how does an ecoegg Laundry Egg actually work?

You’ve read the benefits, but now you want to know the secret behind this magic trick. It’s simple, really.

The white and grey mineral pellets inside of the egg work together to draw dirt away from your clothing, break it up and wash it away. Don’t worry – it does all of this naturally so it won’t cause any fading or damage to your clothes.
