Savings, wellbeing and health – the triple benefit of energy efficiencies
Every forward-thinking school is thinking about ways to reduce costs and impact on the environment but that’s easier said than done.
Translating positive intentions into successful projects that deliver energy, water and carbon efficiencies needs expertise and partnerships built on trust. For any school to be a part of the essential transition to a sustainable education sector – one that helps to ensure the success of the government’s NetZero strategy – it needs to find experts with knowledge and experience who can guide and support.
That’s where SaveMoneyCutCarbon comes in. We have nearly a decade of experience in end-to-end management and delivery of countless projects for schools of all sizes, that not only save money and reduce the impact of rising energy and water prices but also have a positive effect on the health and wellbeing of students and faculty, while strengthening their social responsibility awareness.
Free Opportunity Survey
The way we achieve success is through our granular attention to detail. The process begins with a free Opportunity Survey. We carry out a full audit of current lighting and propose the most appropriate LED replacements, but we go further than many others, inspecting fittings, controls and emergency lighting requirements. It’s this level of detail that will give you a comprehensive audit/asset list to highlight the energy savings and carbon reduction you can achieve.
Because we have developed strong partnerships with all the trusted brands for lighting, including Thorn, Ledvance and Philips, there is the assurance and peace-of-mind that comes from knowing that if you need support, for example to replace a lighting unit, there will be no problem. These household names will be in business for years to come. We back this with no-quibble warranties for everything we supply.
Our installation and project team will manage the installation, covering everything from install, commissioning and testing to removal of old light fittings and luminaires for WEEE recycling. The team will fit with your schedules and can work during school holidays, as well as at night for term-time installations.
Holiday installations
Most school clients prefer installations during school holidays and we work with you to ensure that we coordinate with an assigned member of staff for effective access and lock-up at times needed. Installation can be just a few days or up to a week, but we aim for minimum disruption at all times inconvenience as possible.
Our teams have built their knowledge through working on projects of all levels of complexity in schools as well as major hotel groups and blue chip companies. We also appreciate the necessity of safeguarding and all contractors and staff are enhanced DBS checked. They also wear our green branded uniform and adhere to our stringent behaviour bonds.
We also ensure that you have the Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS), public liability and any further documents you require well in advance of the project start date, which will be provided by a dedicated project manager and project co-ordinator.
The survey will give you full calculations for your savings which are based on a model with very minimal variables, such as your energy cost per Kwh and the “on-hours” of rooms in the school. We use the bill or meter data supplied by the school and work closely with the senior leadership and operations teams to ensure you are happy with the data and any assumptions made – and these are always conservative.
It might be that on rare occasions, a fault develops after sign-off. We will respond swiftly and effectively. It’s a simple process of contacting the project co-ordinator or flagging the problem on our Remedial Works page (www.savemoneycutcarbon.com/help-advice/remedial-works/).
Highest cleaning standards
We demand the highest standards from our crews as part of our behaviour bond, which ensures that your premises are treated with respect, and cleaned to a standard that you would expect of your own team.
All waste materials from your installation are recycled where possible. We adhere strictly to regulation instructions, so for example all lighting waste is a disposed of in accordance with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling regulations.
After the installation is complete, the project team works with you to book time for our comprehensive sign-off process so that we can be sure you are fully satisfied.
We have multiple funding solutions available to ensure funding is possible in almost every situation and our financing team will work with you to find the best options.
