SaveMoneyCutCarbon’s recent Green Tourism accreditation shows we practice what we preach about cutting carbon and energy bills.
We were delighted to receive a Green Tourism Silver Award for our environmentally sound office, as part of the successful accreditation process for the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Green Tourism delivers “the World’s most credible Sustainable Tourism Programme”, according to the Tourism and Greenwash Report produced by Totem Tourism in June last year.
The organisation has more than 2,000 members, from fine hotels to idyllic campsites, museums and outdoor activity centres in the UK, Ireland and Canada, and runs the largest and most established sustainable grading programme in the world.
We are now a Green Tourism accredited supplier, joining a select group of global grands, including Ecover, Kimberly-Clark and Triodos Bank.
A qualified assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme undertook an accreditation grading visit at our business offices in Bury St Edmunds and the audit report amplified our performance as a sustainable tourism operation.
The exhaustive assessment was a full-on, soup-to-nuts exercise, covering consumption (lighting, water, heating, fuel, vehicles etc,) as well as innovation, minimum standards and risk management, green management strategies, travel, community outreach, nature and culture. In all, the forensic process covered 177 areas.
The assessment report says that SaveMoneyCutCarbon has “An excellent level of service and set of solutions related to electricity, lighting and water savings, help this business stand out as an innovative supplier of products for the hospitality industry.
“Services include troubleshooting and solution finding which have provided an outstanding service for the Rezidor group amongst others. In addition, the company are very genuinely committed to delivering a sustainable future for UK consumers.
“Fleet of vehicles are very efficient and there is an excellent brand in development. Offices contain energy and water saving technologies and the whole team is keen to drive sustainable cost-efficient solutions for businesses.
“Excellent vision and commitment from a dynamic team, delivering positive solutions which meet high quality and environmental specifications.”
One of the great things about working in the energy efficiency/sustainability sector is that there is always new knowledge and improved approaches to being environmentally sound. Nobody’s perfect and Green Tourism gave us some great advice on a range of further eco developments, which we are acting on right now and hope that we can continue to improve before the next assessment. Who knows? Maybe the Gold standard is within reach …
