Ceramic cartridges
Grohe is one of leading tap manufacturers and one of the few that manufacture their own cartridges. These ceramic cartridges are constructed in a high-tech process and they have discs made from a space-proven ceramic alloy.
The polished mirror-like surface of the discs is coated with a special Teflon lubricant for frictionless operation. Grohe builds its taps to last a lifetime, so it has incorporated micro-chambers of this lubricant within the cartridge for a lifetime of maintenance-free operation.
The lever handle of the tap is connected to the SilkMove discs by a solid brass shaft, chosen for its strength and durability. As the discs move over each other, they can block the water or allow it to pass through so the quality and machining of these parts affects the tap’s performance.
As a result of this state-of-the art technology, Grohe taps have an extra-wide operating angle, allowing you to exactly manage the water flow and temperature. SilkMove is another perfect example of design and technology working in harmony to ensure an enhanced water experience.

In cold-water mode and positioned mid-lever, the ES technology springs into life.
